Inside North Korea
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 21, 24, and 26-27), “Kim Jeong-il, accompanied by KPA General Lee Myeong-su and others, inspected the KPA Unit 338, the Geunwi Ganggeon Second Infantry Division, a company under the KPA Unit 456, a company under the KPA Unit 715 and the KPA Unit 781(dates unspecified).”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 22), “The 3rd National Meeting of Mothers was held in Pyongyang on Nov. 22, with Chairman Kim Yeong-nam of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, WPK Secretary Kim Joong-rin and others participating.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 24), “The Academy of Sciences was renamed the State Academy of Sciences in accordance with a decree (Nov. 23) of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly.”
Outside North Korea
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said (Nov. 21), “We categorically oppose and reject the UN resolution on human rights as an illegal document that mocks and violates the inviolable sovereignty of the DPRK.” (Chosun Central News Agency)
The Pyongyang Broadcasting Station blasted (Nov. 26), “Japan’s Prime Minister Koizumi continues to pay homage at the Yasukuni Shrine because he intends to glorify Japan’s history of aggression as one of liberation and justice and engrave that notion in the minds of the Japanese people and especially the younger generations.”
Inter-Korean Issues
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 24), “A marathon for unification from Pyongyang to Nampo took place on Nov. 24, with South Korean participants headed by the president of OhmyNews.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 26), “The 2nd video reunion of separated families of South and North Korea was held in Pyongyang on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.”
