Inside North Korea
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 8, Nov. 10-13), “Kim Jeong-il, accompanied by KPA generals Lee Myeong-su, Hyeon Cheol-hae, and others, inspected Naepyeong No. 2 Gunmin Power Station, companies under KPA units 847, 802 and 1337, and a company honored with the title of the three revolution red flag under KPA Unit 1188 (dates unreported) and ordered strengthened combat capability.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 10), “On Nov. 6, the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly announced an ordinance regarding the delivery of awards, including the Kim Il Sung Youth Honorary Award, the National Flag Decoration and the Merit Medal, to 52,337 participants in Arirang performances.”
Central TV disclosed (Nov. 10), “The National Emergency Veterinary and Anti-Epizootic Committee has issued an emergency avian influenza alert and is strengthening a uniform directive for epidemic prevention and quarantine projects across the nation.”
Outside North Korea
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 8), “A resolution of the 57th meeting of the Council of the Korea-China Hydroelectric Power Company (North Korea: Vice Minister Shin Yeong-seong of the Ministry of Power and Coal Industries; China: Deputy Director General Zheng Baoshen of the China State Electric Network Corporation) was signed in Beijing on Nov. 7.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Nov. 10), “According to reports, massive riots have surged in France recently, creating chaos in the nation.”
The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service reported (Nov. 11), “Even today, sixty years after its defeat in the war, Japan has not taken any measures to restore the honor and integrity of the victims of forceful detention, and is even using cowardly tactics to conceal its past crimes against humanity.”
Inter-Korean Issues
The Central Broadcasting Station disclosed, “Vice-Chairman Lee Jong-hyeok of North Korea’s Asia-Pacific Peace Committee and Chairman Hyun Jeong-eun of Hyundai Group held contacts in Gaeseong on Nov. 10 and 11, and agreed to normalize tours to Mt. Geumgang.”
In a Nov. 11 press release issued by its spokesperson, the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland lashed out, saying, “The New Conservative National Association (New Right National Association) organized by the conservative powers of South Korea is nothing more than the South Korean version of the ?Neocon,’ the new conservative power of the United States.” (Joseon Central News Agency)
