Outside North Korea
The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service reported (Oct. 8), “The assassination of Queen Min by the Japanese in 1895 remains an issue today, but Japan to this day does not acknowledge its acts of aggression of the past and its history of crimes.”
In an editorial, the Pyongyang Broadcasting Service contended (Oct. 9), “The influence and tyranny of the United States, which claims to be the only superpower in the entire world, are not being tolerated on the Korean peninsula because of the existence of our (DPRK’s) mighty, powerful military-first arsenal.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Oct. 9-10), “Kim Jeong-il received Wu Yi, vice premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China (Oct. 8), and Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation (Oct. 9), on a visit to North Korea to participate in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.”
Inter-Korean Issues
The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service contended (Oct. 5), “The movement to liquidate the remnants of pro-Japanese factions in South Korea must lead to the purging of pro-US factions as well. Without this, the settlement of the past regarding the pro-Japanese faction will remain mere hollow words.”
The Central Broadcasting Station insisted (Oct. 7), “We must solidify the Three Major Areas of Cooperation, including cooperation for national independence, cooperation for peace against war, and cooperation for reunification and patriotism in order to achieve the reunification of the nation.”
