Inside North Korea

The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 5-6), “Kim Jeong-il inspected the April 16 Goat Farm run by KPA Unit 757 (date unreported), and gave field guidance at the Miru Plain in North Hwanghae Province (date unreported).”


The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 8), “A national meeting took place at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang on Sept. 8 to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the DPRK, and was attended by Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly Kim Yeong-nam and Prime Minister Park Bong-ju.”


The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 11), “Kye Soon-hee won a gold medal in the 57 kg category of the 2005 World Judo Championships, winning her third straight world judo championship.”

Outside North Korea

The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 5), “Chinese President Hu Jin Tao met Kim Ik-hyeon, vice marshal of the Korean Peoples’ Army, who was heading a delegation of Korean anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters participating in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the world’s anti-fascist war at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on September 3.”


The Central Broadcasting Station stated (Sept. 6), “The US Administration has suffered successive dismal failures on both the Iraq War and the Hurricane Katrina fronts, and is facing a tremendous crisis in its strategy of handling the two wars.”


The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service emphasized (Sept. 10), “It is unacceptable that Japan is set on completely denying its atrocious history of aggression. Japan’s record of war crimes will not fade even with the turning of the century.”

Inter-Korean Issues

The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 7), “A seminar for South and North Korean broadcasters was held at Mt. Geumgang Sept. 4-6, with broadcasters from North and South Korea as well as persons from relevant sectors in attendance.”


The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 8), “The performance of the Korean opera Oh! Goguryeo, Goguryeo, King Gwanggaeto by the New Seoul Opera Troupe of South Korea visiting Pyongyang took place at the Bonghwa Art Theater on September 7.”


The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Sept. 11), “A delegation of women’s organizations of South Korea led by Chairman of the Women’s Headquarters of South Korea’s Preparatory Committee for the Implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration Chung Hyeon-baek arrived in Pyongyang on September 10 and visited Mangyeongdae.”
