Inside North Korea
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (July 13), “The North Korea Environmental Protection Fund was created with the purpose of protecting land and water resources and air quality, and to strengthen sponsorship projects in order to secure the financing and materials required for their sustainable development and use.”
The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service reported (July 14), “The Art Propaganda Squad of South Hwanghae Province is energetically staging art propaganda activities to bring the agricultural workers together in the struggle to carry on the joint slogans of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (July 17), “In the 14th International Taekwondo World Championships, held in Australia from July 9-14 and with participants from over 50 nations, North Korea received 17 gold medals, 7 silver and 2 bronze, ranked first overall among nations, and received the championship cup.”
Outside North Korea
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (July 12), “Members of the cabinet ministries of foreign affairs, trade and culture as well as professors and staff from Kim Il Sung University visited the British Embassy in North Korea on July 11 and 12 to pay condolences with regards to the series of explosions that took place in London.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (July 14), “Kim Jeong-il met with Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, a special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao, on July 13.”
Inter-Korean Issues
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (July 11), “In accordance with the agreement reached at the 15th North-South Senior-Level Talks, the 10th meeting of the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation was kicked off in Seoul on July 10.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (July 16), “Kim Jeong-il met with Hyundai Group Chairperson Hyeon Jeong-eun and Hyundai Asan Vice Chairperson Kim Yoon-gyu, who are staying at the Mt. Geumgang resort. Among those present was Lim Dong-ok, First Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.”
