The Central Broadcasting Station emphasized (Jan. 22), “Armed with the absolutely immutable conviction that ‘We can live without candy, but we cannot live without bullets,’ every sector and unit should place the highest priority on strengthening our national defense and further develop the defense industry above all else.”
The Central Broadcasting Station reported (Jan. 23) that “the central reporting conference (report made by Kim Gyeong-ho, first secretary of the Youth Alliance) took place on January 21 at the People’s Cultural Palace in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Kim Il-seong’s ‘1,000 ri [around 4,000 kilometers] march for liberation [from Japanese colonial rule]’ as well as the 30th anniversary of Kim Jeong-il’s ‘order to explore the 1,000 ri march for revolution.’”
Outside North Korea
The Central Broadcasting Station cited (Jan. 18) the Jan. 17 statement of the spokesperson of North Korea’s Foreign Ministry and argued that “our [North Korean] military and the people have made meticulous calculations of the history of crime committed by Japan in the past 100 years, and will employ any means and methods that are necessary so as to receive compensation for such crimes no matter what.”
In an article titled “The Anti-Republic [North Korea] Human Rights Dispute that Crosses a Dangerous Line,” the Pyeongyang Broadcasting Service condemned the US (Jan. 19) and said, “After having manipulated the North Korean Human Rights Act that aims to overhaul our [North Korean] regime, the US is planning to send a human rights special envoy to North Korea.”
