Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

    Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA Unit 2651 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. Guided by the commander of the unit, he looked round the room devoted to the education of servicepersons through revolutionary relics and the room devoted to the history of the unit.
    Seeing the historic mementoes and other relics associated with the footprints of President Kim Il Sung, he said that the unit has grown to be matchless combat ranks under the wise leadership and meticulous care of the President. He underscored the need for the unit to always remember the benevolence the President showed for it.
    After learning about the unit's performance of duty, he watched its servicepersons' training. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that all the servicepersons have grown to be a-match-for-a-hundred fighters fully prepared politically and ideologically and in military technique to firmly defend the socialist country.
    After acquainting himself with how the political work is being conducted among the servicepersons, he praised the unit for conducting effective revolutionary and class education by use of diverse educational materials and training its servicepersons as heroic human bullets and self-blasting fighters in the new century through a dynamic movement to learn from the noble revolutionary spirit displayed by heroes Ri Su Bok, Kim Kwang Chol and Kil Yong Jo, in particular. He called on all the servicepersons to make it a rule and habit to read books, noting it is very good that the unit has built a modern library and made a good use of it, thus establishing a revolutionary habit of reading.
    He then took deep care of the servicepersons' living, going round a mess hall, a kitchen, a non-staple food store and other supply service facilities. He saw a store stacked with quality materials for preparing non-staple food gathered from the unit's sideline fields this year. He expressed great satisfaction over its success, saying it is one more new reality brought about by servicepersons in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. He had a photo session with the servicepersons of the unit.
    He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.
