National Meeting of Active People's Security Persons Held

    Pyongyang, December 13 (KCNA) -- A national meeting of active people's security persons was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Dec. 12 and 13. The meeting reviewed the achievements made by people's security persons in their struggle to defend the gains of the revolution and the socialist country in the past under the wise guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader and discussed tasks to be implemented to strengthen the work to ensure people's security and reliably defend Korean-style socialism by law and ways to do so.
    Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, conveyed a historic letter sent by Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il to the participants.
    Minister of People's Security Ju Sang Song made a report at the meeting.
    President Kim Il Sung established the people's security institution with his clairvoyant wisdom after the liberation of the country, he said, adding that it was a shining fruition of his Juche-oriented line on building people's democratic dictatorial institution and a historic event of great significance in the struggle to defend the working people's cause of independence, the cause of socialism, politically and by law.
    The proud years covered by the institution since its establishment are a glorious history of the outstanding leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in which they laid down the most correct policy of class struggle and strategies and tactics in each period and at each stage of the developing revolution and wisely led the work for the people's security, the reporter said.
    He called on all people's security organs and persons to turn out in the struggle to devotedly safeguard Kim Jong Il and thoroughly implement the historic tasks he set forth in the letter.
    The reporter underscored the need for the people's security organs to enhance the function of the people's democratic dictatorship, intensify the law-abiding struggle, resolutely foil the imperialists' ideological and cultural poisoning and firmly consolidate the politico-ideological and class positions of socialism.
    He underlined the need for all people's security organs and persons to firmly equip themselves with the Juche-oriented view on war, prepare themselves to be a-match-for-a hundred soldiers firmly holding the arms of the revolution and defend the country and the life and property of the people from the enemies' moves to encroach upon them as required by the prevailing situation.
    The reporter called upon all the people's security persons to rally closer around Kim Jong Il and effect a new revolutionary surge in the work for people's security under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea, the red flag of the Songun revolution, and thus creditably fulfill their responsibility and duty. Speeches were made at the meeting.
    The speakers recalled that the people's security persons have covered the road of victory, firmly safeguarding the revolutionary cause of Juche, the socialist cause, politically true to the idea and guidance of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, protected the people's life and property and given fuller play to the advantages and vitality of the socialist country of Juche by strengthening the education in law-abiding and establishing a well-organized social order. They declared that all the people's security persons would firmly prepare themselves as the Songun revolutionary comrades who share the destiny with Kim Jong Il to the last and political defenders of the Party who reliably protect the wellbeing of the country and the people.
    A message of pledge to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
