Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA)- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 744 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led seventh regiment. He was saluted on the spot by commanding officers of the unit.
    After acquainting himself with the unit's performance of duty, he looked round the room devoted to its history, conducted by its commander. He dropped in at the servicepersons' hall to learn about how the political work and entertainment are conducted for them. It is a great success that the unit has built a modern hall on its own, he said, underscoring the need to minutely run the hall so that they may fully enjoy a cultural life. He watched soldiers undergoing training in the combined drill ground of the unit.
    He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the unit is training officers and men as a-match-for-a hundred stalwart fighters by successfully building modern drill ground to suit the content and nature of training and widely applying the latest apparatuses to it.
    He called on all units to pay primary attention to the combat and political training, noting that intensified combat training provides a basic way of bolstering the strength of the matchless army and the master key to training the soldiers as a-match-for-a hundred fighters.
    Going round the compound of the barracks, he learned about the unit's management.
    Watching the compound of the barracks and their surroundings that match well the compound kept spick-and-span, he said this is fantastic scenery which can be seen in the era of Songun. He highly praised the servicepersons of the unit for having radically changed the appearance of the unit in a few years. The commanding officers of the unit have energetically pushed forward the command and management of the unit, considering it as a basic work to organize and command the implementation of the military and political tasks before the unit, thus bringing about shining fruits as we see today, he said, adding that great miracles are reported from various places as the hearts of the soldiers are beating high with the revolutionary spirit of carrying out the orders in a do-or-die spirit.
    He made the rounds of a mess hall, a kitchen, a vegetable store, a food processing room and other supply service facilities and a nursery. He appreciated the work style of the commanding officers of the unit, saying he could see the tenacious way of managing its economic life through every supply service facility kept in good shape.
    He highly appreciated once again the achievements made by the unit, saying the unit has accumulated a wealth of precious experience in the combat and political training, its management and in all other aspects.
    He had a photo session with the servicepersons of the unit.
