Internal Affairs

Chairman Kim Jong-il inspected a company under the direct control of the army unit 715, the army unit 781 and the army unit 638, according to the Central Broadcasting Station on Nov. 26, 27 and 28.

A central reporting session on the 60 th anniversary of the establishment of the General Federation of Korean Trade Unions and a meeting of nationwide union worker activists were held successively on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 with the participation of Kim Jung-rin, secretary of the Korea Workers Party, Ryom Sun-gil, chairman of the General Federation of Korean Trade Unions and others, according the Central Broadcasting Station on Nov.30 and the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Dec. 1.

A meeting of workers in electronics and coal industry fields was held with the participation of important officials from the Party and the government such as Premier Park Bong-ju and Choe Thae-bok, secretary of the Party, at the People’s Palace of Culture on Nov. 26, according to the Central Broadcasting Station and the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 26.

A medal was set by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly in order to commemorate the torchlight parade by youth vanguard, according to the Central Broadcasting Station on Nov. 27.

Ri Tong-chol, director of the Ministry of the Territorial Environment Protection publicized achievements made during the Autumn Territorial Management General Mobilization Period on the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 29.

The construction work of irrigation nets was underway to pump and drain water for paddies around Jaeryong River in a city of Sariwon , in Hwanghae Buk Province , according to the Central Broadcasting Station on Dec. 1.

The National Veterinary Emergency Epidemic Control installed hundreds of observation points in the moving routes of migratory birds as part of its efforts to control the spread of avian influenza, according to the Central Broadcasting Station on Nov. 27.

Inter-Korean Affairs

A spokesperson from the DPRK’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, through a press conference with the Central Broadcasting Station on Dec.1, criticized the South Korean authorities for pursuing the collapse of the North through inter-Korean economic cooperation and exchange, according to the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Dec. 1.

A North Korean delegation to inter-Korean defense talks announced a statement claiming that the recent U.S. army’s entry into and exit from inter-Korean management districts in East Sea and West Sea area was creating a situation of escalating confrontations and tensions, according to the Central Broadcasting Station and Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 29.

On the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the ROK -US Combined Forces Command, North Korea denounced the agency as an implementing the U.S. strategy to hold sway over the Korean Peninsula, demanding for its dismantlement, according to the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 7 and 25, and the Central Broadcasting Station on Nov. 13.

The Central Broadcasting Station on Dec. 1 denounced the U.S, saying that the numbers of the U.S. army’s aerial espionage over the North amounted to 210 times during November, 2005.

The Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 25 denounced the South Korean authorities’ attempt to increase national defense budget next year and to boost armed forces in the name of national defense reform as an anti-national and criminal act to pose a great danger to peace on the Korean Peninsula .

Foreign Affairs

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concerning the termination of the construction of light water reactors, expressed its position that the U.S. was held accountable for wrecking the Agreed Framework between North Korea and the U.S. and it would demand for compensation for the losses incurred by the U.S. , according to the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 28.

The Korean Central News Agency criticized the U.S. Department of State for implementing ‘an action to improve the freedom of information within North Korea’ on the basis of the North Korean Human Rights Act on Nov. 2, calling it as a ‘Trojan Wooden Horse’ strategy to disturb an internal world of North Korea.

A delegation from the Software Industry General Bureau led by director general Han Woo-chol, paid a visit to Russia , according to the Pyongyang Broadcasting Station on Nov. 24.

From Jan to Sep, North Korea’s trade volume with China and Japan recorded U.S. 1.19 billion dollars and 0.15 billion dollars each, totaling U.S. 1.34 billion dollars, up 25.3 percent from the same period last year due to increase in its trade volume with China.
