Pyongyang, November 12 (KCNA) -- A collection of works of leader Kim Jong Il was brought out by the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House. The book contains 33 works including his speeches and talks on the cultural heritages of the nation and the national tradition from September Juche 49 (1960) to June Juche 93 (2004). These works were published at a time when the issue of carrying forward and developing the cultural heritages of the nation and the national tradition presented itself as a very important issue in Korea.
Kim Jong Il took steps to overcome in time deviations arising in carrying forward and developing the cultural heritages of the nation and the national tradition against the background of the replacement of one generation by another and the developing society.
Profound ideas and theories and policies set forth by him in that period were dealt with in many works including "Let Us Give Full Play to the Korean Nation-First Spirit."
He in these works noted that the cultural heritages of the nation bequeathed by the ancestors are the precious cultural treasures proving the distinguished wisdom and talents of the Korean people, clarifying the issues of positively discovering the cultural heritages of the nation, preserving and managing them well, keeping alive the excellent national tradition of the Korean people and carrying forward and developing it. The publication of the collection of works is of great importance in encouraging the Koreans at home and abroad all out to implement the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration to preserve the national identity.
