Defending Human Rights and Sovereignty Called for

    Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- The U.S. application of double standards of human rights should be resolutely rejected to fairly solve the human rights issue in the international arena, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article. The U.S. keeps mum about human rights abuses in America and its allied and satellite countries while pressurizing and interfering in the internal affairs of anti-imperialist independent countries and going the lengths of using arms against them with two human rights yardsticks, the article says, and goes on: A fair solution to the human rights issue is no more than empty talk under the present international environment where appeals of small and weak countries and nations are squashed by the loud bluff of the U.S-led imperialist powers.
    Human rights will continue to be used as a plaything of the U.S. which is resorting to high-handed practices unless a favorable environment for all countries and nations to solve the human rights issues fairly and independently through democratization of the international community is provided. The U.S. imperialists' mode of dealing with the human rights issue characterized by unfair application of double standards, arrogant admonition and open interference in internal affairs of other countries has brought only mistrust and confrontation among countries.
    Human rights can never be defended and promoted by the method of unilateral pressure and sanctions based on the U.S. double standards of human rights.
    The imperialists' vicious moves for regime change, overthrow of system, under the pretext of "human rights issue" should be resolutely foiled. Anyone should not lend an ear to the U.S.-led imperialists' hypocritical and deceptive piffle about "human rights".
    Genuine human rights of the popular masses can be defended only through an uncompromising struggle against the imperialists who trample upon the sovereignty of other countries and nations.
    Imperialism, the U.S. imperialism in particular, is the worst human rights abuser and the biggest anti-independent force.
    Therefore, an unflinching struggle against the U.S. imperialists is the only way of defending genuine human rights and sovereignty.
