Different Projects Completed

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Mine shafts No. 17 and 18 of the Komdok Mining Complex were newly built and commissioned. The workers of Kumgol have built the shafts in hearty response to the behest of President Kim Il Sung and words of leader Kim Jong Il though they were hard pressed for everything. This is one more proud success in the drive to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation. The completion of the shafts with a carriage capacity of hundred thousands of tons of ore per year will help increase ore production and contribute to the development of economy and promotion of the standards of the people's living.
The reconstruction and modernization projects of the First Calcinations Sulfuric Acid System of the Tanchon Smeltery have been successfully completed. The system with more than 6,000 square metres of floor space in an area of 20,000 square metres has been reconstructed and modernized as required by the new century so as to increase the production of various nonferrous metals.
Present at inaugural ceremonies held on Nov. 9 and 8 were Jon Sung Hun, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Meanwhile, May 12 Taesong Factory was commissioned.
The factory furnished with modern equipment and with over 2,260 square metres of floor space produces good recapped tyres of different sizes by cooling-system without using fuel.
