Rodong Sinmun on U.S. Firing Range
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean Ministry of National Defence agreed to use Jik Islet in sea off Kunsan, North Jolla Province as a U.S. troops' firing range instead of the closed firing range in Maehyang-ri and confirmed it at the 37th meeting of the south Korea-U.S. security consultative council held in the previous month. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today denounces it as a deception and intolerable mockery of the south Korean people demanding the closure of the U.S. troops' firing range as it is an action of bringing about the 2nd Maehyang-ri incident.
The news analyst goes on:
The issue of closing the U.S. firing range in south Korea is the issue of removing the hotbed of environmental damage and threatening the life and security of the residents and, furthermore, the issue related to the defence of peace in the Korean Peninsula and the dignity of the nation. The struggle of the south Korean people for the closure of the firing range in Maehyang-ri was not to remove it to other place but to remove it out of south Korea as it destroys their living ground and threatens their lives. But the U.S. imperialist aggressor troops answered to this by replacing the previous firing range with another one.
The removal of the firing range to Jik Islet is allegedly to step up military exercises of aggression with it as a base and force the south Korean people to undergo misfortune and sufferings.
It is an unpardonable treachery for the south Korean authorities to submit to the U.S. demand and offer a sacred land of the country as a military drill ground of the aggression forces.
