U.S. Arrogant Behavior under Fire

    Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- The Korean People's Army is following with high vigilance the baseless smear campaign launched by the U.S. forces side after falsifying the case. If it persistently disregards the agreed points and practice observed by both sides over the last several decades in the conference area in Panmunjom, this will only compel the KPA side to take measures to cope with its action. A spokesman for the Panmunjom Mission of the KPA said this in a statement denouncing the U.S. forces side for inciting the confrontation between the north and the south of Korea and deliberately deteriorating the situation in the conference area in Panmunjom and the area along the Military Demarcation Line (MDL).
    The statement said:
    Both sides have already agreed upon and specified the order of conduct to be observed by the servicemen and visitors in the area and the order regarding the use and management and maintenance of the buildings. But the U.S. forces side has undisguisedly ignored such agreed points. It was against this backdrop that south Korean soldiers fired several machine-gun bullets towards the area of the north side from the demilitarized zone south of the MDL in the eastern sector of the front.
    But thanks to a high degree of patience on the part of soldiers of the north side and the south Korean army's notice over loudspeaker that it was an accidental firing and apologized for it, the incident did not fester.
    Nevertheless, at 22:31, October 28, 3 hours after the occurrence of the firing the U.S. forces side sent a phone message to the KPA side in which it falsified the case by claiming that the KPA side perpetrated such firing and demanded it clarify its motive.
    Such shameless behavior of the U.S. forces side touched off bitter anger among KPA soldiers and stoked confrontation.
    The KPA side cannot repress towering disgust and resentment at this shameless and dangerous act of the U.S. forces side. All the moves of the U.S. forces side are, in a nutshell, aimed at rattling the nerves of the KPA side, which is technically at war with the former, in a bid to aggravate the inter-Korean confrontation, hamstring the process of reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south and thus invent a pretext for putting military pressure upon the DPRK.
    The U.S. forces side would be well advised to bear in mind that its folly has gone beyond the tolerance limit.
