11th meeting of NSCPEC Held

Kaesong, October 28 (KCNA) -- The 11th meeting of the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation was held at the Consultation Office of North-South Economic Cooperation newly opened at the Kaesong Industrial Zone on Friday. At the meeting both sides had consultations of the issues arising in positively promoting the already agreed economic cooperation and made public a joint press release of the meeting.
According to the joint press release, both sides discussed and decided to continue to consult practical matters for promoting the provision of light industrial raw materials and materials and cooperation in the development of underground natural resources as agreed at the 10th meeting of the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation and proposals for achieving the fruition of relinking of railways and roads, fishery cooperation, the construction of the Kaesong Industrial Zone, the prevention of the River Rimjin from flood damage and others at an early date in the common interests of the nation.
The joint press release said that both sides decided to consult and promote rapidly the issues of economic cooperation in different fields and activate and broaden cooperative work in new forms and ways with the opening of the consultation office as an occasion.
It was agreed to set the date and venue of the 12th meeting of the NSCPEC and other working contacts through the consultation office, said the joint press release.
Present at the meeting from the north side were members of the delegation led by Vice-Minister of Construction and Building Materials Industries Choe Yong Gon who is chairman of the north side of the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation, and suites and from the south side members of the delegation with Vice-Minister of Finance and Economy Pak Pyong Won who is chairman of the south side of the NSCPEC as a senior delegate, and suites.
