Taean Friendship Glass Factory Commissioned in Presence of Kim Jong Il

    Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The Taean Friendship Glass Factory was commissioned on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea. Built with grant-in-aid from the Chinese party and government, the factory is symbolic of the DPRK-China friendship that has grown strong generation after generation.
    The factory built as a monumental edifice under the deep care of the top leaders of the two countries is a modern glass producer with big production capacity as all its main production processes and auxiliary facilities have been furnished with latest equipment.
    The factory associated with the disinterested fraternal friendship of the party, the government and the people of China will greatly contribute to the DPRK's socialist economic construction and the betterment of the standard of its people's living.
    A commissioning ceremony of the factory was held in grand style on the spot today.
    Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, appeared in the venue of the ceremony together with Wu Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Communist Party of China and vice-premier of the State Council of China.
    Present there were Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces, Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the SPA of the DPRK.
    On hand were members of the Chinese government delegation including Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai and Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council Xu Shao Shi and Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe and staff members of the Chinese embassy, Teng Fuquan, general director of the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation of China, and officials, technicians and workers of the corporation.
    Also on hand were leading officials of the Party, armed forces and power organs, ministries and national institutions and South Phyongan Province. Pak Pong Ju made an address for the occasion.
    Then followed a congratulatory speech by Wu Yi.
    Pak Pong Ju together with Wu Yi, Minister of Construction and Building Materials Industries Tong Jong Ho and Teng Fuquan cut the red tape hanging at the entrance to the production building, announcing the commissioning of the glass factory.
    Kim Jong Il went round the factory together with the Chinese guests and senior officials of the Party and State accompanying him. Greatly satisfied with the successful completion of the factory, he expressed deep thanks to the Chinese party and government with Hu Jintao as general secretary for having provided the modern glass factory free to the DPRK.
    The Chinese party, government and people, that supported the DPRK in its revolutionary struggle both materially and morally in the past, provided a large glass factory to it free this time again and did their best to hand over to it a perfect factory fully reflecting the need of the new century, he noted, adding that the Korean people will always remember this sincerest and comradely precious aid.
    He highly appreciated once again the merits the officials, technicians and builders of the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation have performed by devoting all their wisdom and energies to completing the factory at the highest level true to the intention of their party and government.
