Kim Jong Il Enjoys Art Performance

    Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, together with KPA servicepersons, enjoyed an art performance given by the art squads of KPA Units 966 and 337. Among the audience were KPA Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, and Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Ri Yong Chol and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the Central Committee of the WPK, and KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong. The art squads put on the stage colorful numbers of various genres including chorus "Glory to the General", female solo "Soldiers Live Near the General", female chorus "A Magpie Chirps at the Post", mixed chorus "Arirang for Army-People Unity", agitation at soldiers' oath-taking ceremonies "Don't Forget even a Moment What a Soldier Swore ", and singing with oungum "Blue Sky over My Country", mixed chorus and singing "A Soldier Hears Rice Ears to Rustle", chorus and story-telling "Kitchen Cart Runs" and chorus "Song of Comradeship".
    Expressing great satisfaction over the splendid performance given by the members of art squads as artistes of the revolutionary army, Kim Jong Il extended high appreciation and thanks to them for having created art pieces of diverse genres with strong militancy and appeal, influence and great attraction and made mobile performance tours to dynamically present them before servicepersons and thereby powerfully encouraging those reliably standing guard over the defence line of the country to implement the military line of the WPK.
    Noting that art activities are very important for educating soldiers, he set forth tasks which would serve as guidelines in conducting dynamic performance tours to present revolutionary and militant art pieces encouraging servicepersons to wage a heroic struggle and perform feats.
