KCNA Blasts Japan's "Defense White Paper for 2005"

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Japan Defense Agency in its recent "defense white paper for 2005" listed the DPRK and China as "states threatening Japan." Moreover, it described Tok Islet, an inalienable part of Korea's territory, as a "disputed area." It is the keynote of the white paper to take new military steps for protecting the security of Japan from "the threats of nukes and ballistic missiles" from the DPRK and "the increasing military threat" from China.
This is a very dangerous and brazen-faced subterfuge to justify Japan's moves to revive militarism and emerge a military power and realize its overseas expansion under the pretext of "military threats" from the DPRK and China.
The DPRK clarified its stand more than once that its self-defensive armed forces will in no way be a threat to Japan unless the latter perpetrates hostile acts against it. Japan's oft-repeated "nuclear and missile threat from north Korea" is a fabrication made by the Japanese reactionaries on the basis of a political calculation from A to Z. The situation is growing very tense on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia due to Japan's moves to emerge a military power and realize overseas expansion, backed by the United States.
Japan has tightened its military alliance with the U.S. and pushed ahead with arms build-up plan, thus rapidly increasing its military capability in foreign countries. It has paid primary attention to legalizing the war actions of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) in a bid to realize its ambition for establishing the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere".
The "military threat" from the DPRK and China is cited by Tokyo as the only pretext for working hard to achieve this goal.
The Japanese reactionaries are keen to convince the international community that the SDF's military actions are for "defense" in principle.
It is under this pretext that Japan is going ahead with the preparations for military reinvasion openly with increased zeal.
It is pushing forward its long-range missile program aimed at preemptive assault under the pretext of "neutralizing the ballistic missile plan" of the DPRK and keen to introduce the missile defense system which calls for putting the DPRK and China and other parts of Asia within its range of attack.
The Japanese reactionaries are deliberately sparking a territorial dispute, asserting that Tok Islet, an inalienable part of Korea's territory, is a "disputed area." This is a deliberate and premeditated move to strain the situation in the region and create an environment favorable for realizing their ambition for emerging a military power and launching reinvasion.
In order to achieve true reconciliation and peace in Northeast Asia free from confrontation and distrust, it is necessary to force Japan to drop its bad habit of always sacrificing others to meet its own interests.
This is the trend of the times.
