Reception Given by Chinese Charge d'Affaires

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Chinese Charge d'Affaires a.i. here Guan Huabing gave a reception at the embassy on Saturday evening on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the signing of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. Speaking at the reception, Guan Huabing said that the two parties and two governments of China and the DPRK have cooperated in various fields including politics, economy and culture in the spirit of the treaty for the last 44 years, thus making a great contribution to the prosperity of the two countries and regional peace and stability.
The undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people and a close friend of the Chinese people, and the leaders of the elder generation of China for the development of the friendly relations between the two countries will always remain recorded in history and shine long, he stressed.
He expressed conviction that the Sino-Korean friendly and cooperative relations will bloom more beautifully under the deep concern of General Secretary Hu Jintao and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and thanks to the concerted efforts of the two sides.
Under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the fraternal Korean people are working hard to significantly greet the 60th anniversaries of the foundation of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of Korea, in single-minded unity, he noted, adding that the Chinese people sincerely wish the Korean people greater success in the economic construction and the work to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, addressing the reception, said that the treaty has given strong impetus to socialist construction in the two countries and made a great contribution to ensuring peace and security in Northeast Asia for the last decades.
Noting that in recent years the supreme leaders of the two countries have reached the common understanding of steadily consolidating and developing the traditional DPRK-China friendship at a series of meetings and talks, he said that the two countries are comprehensively expanding and developing the bilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural and all other fields.
Today the Chinese government and people are registering great achievements in the efforts to build a comprehensively well-off society, a task laid down by the 16th Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the leadership of the CPC with Hu Jintao as its general secretary, he said, and stressed: We will as ever join the Chinese comrades in making every possible effort to boost the DPRK-China friendship as required by the new century and thus positively contribute to advancing the socialist cause in the two countries and ensuring peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.
