Invariable Idea of WPK's Foreign Policy Reclarified
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea in their joint slogans published on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the WPK foundation reiterated that the independence, peace and friendship are the invariable idea of the WPK's foreign policy and called for boosting the friendly and cooperative relations with all the countries that respect the sovereignty of the DPRK and building an independent, peaceful and friendly new world. Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article carried in this regard says that this serves as a banner giving impetus to the efforts of the WPK and the DPRK government to develop their external relations and realize the noble idea of independence, peace and friendship, common to humankind.
The WPK has firmly maintained independence in its external relations, the article notes, and goes on:
It does not tolerate any attempt to infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and interfere in its internal affairs in a bid to dominate and control it. It is strongly opposed to the act of violating the sovereignty of other countries and assesses and handles all the problems arising in the international community with independence as a yardstick, while standing firm against practices hurting independence.
No one is allowed to say this or that to the DPRK advancing under the uplifted banner of independence or impose unreasonable demands upon it. The DPRK loves peace very much and does not want war but will exercise its sovereignty and strongly counter any forces' invasion for conquering it with its tremendous military muscle.
The WPK has made positive efforts to curb and frustrate the imperialists' offensive to put pressure upon the DPRK, achieve peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and defend peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world in firm unity with all the peace-loving forces of the world.
The WPK will boost good-neighborly and friendly relations with all the countries on the principle of independence and on the basis of international justice and will strive to improve and normalize the relations even with those countries which had been hostile towards the DPRK in the past if they respect its sovereignty and abandon their hostile policy towards it, the article concludes.
