Defending Peace against War Called for

    Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Struggle for peace against war is the foremost task of the Korean nation for security of the nation which had already undergone the holocaust of a war in the past century and has been constantly under the danger of war for decades century after century. Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a signed article.
    As the U.S. moves for a nuclear war against the north are getting more undisguised as the days go by, military tension is coiling up in the Korean Peninsula and the dangerous situation under which a nuclear war may break out any time is prevailing, the article says, and goes on:
    A touch-and-go situation has been prevailing in the Korean Peninsula for decades owing to the U.S. war policy for invasion of Korea. Such a long-standing touch-and-go situation can never be seen in other part of the world.
    If a war breaks out in the Korean Peninsula, it will certainly turn into a nuclear war and the existence of the Korean nation will be endangered.
    It is an important task for national reconciliation and cooperation and independent reunification to prevent war and preserve peace.
    It is impossible to advance the June 15 reunification era and achieve national harmony and peaceful reunification without creating a peaceful environment free from the danger of war. Whenever inter-Korean relations developed and the situation turned in favor of reunification, the U.S. has deliberately rendered the situation strained and driven it to the brink of war to block peace of Korea and the unity and reunification of the Korean nation.
    All the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should set it as the foremost task to defend peace against war and turn out as one in the struggle for security of the Korean nation and reunification of the country.
    There can be no difference of factions, political views, classes, strata, the ins and the outs in the patriotic national struggle to foil the moves of the foreign forces for a war of aggression and defend the peace of the country at the present time when the danger of a nuclear war is befalling to the nation. All the fellow countrymen should turn out in the struggle to decisively check and frustrate the U.S. war provocation moves and drive the U.S. troops, the root cause of war, out of south Korea.
