U.S. Criminal Moves to Scuttle Festival for Reunification

    Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- 15 U.S. Stealth fighter bombers and 250 maintenance personnel flew into south Korea just before the grand festival for national reunification to be held in Pyongyang on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed commentary terms it a deliberate and premeditated move to scuttle the grand festival for reunification to be held by the Koreans themselves as it is driving the situation of the Korean Peninsula strained owing to the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. to the brink of war.
    It is by no means the first time that the U.S. is scheming to deliberately aggravate the situation of the Korean Peninsula in a bid to arrest the movement of the Korean nation for independent reunification, the commentary says, and goes on:
    It is the invariable ambition of the U.S. to dominate the Korean nation, keeping it divided into two forever.
    The U.S. is not pleased with reconciliation, unity and reunification of the north and the south of Korea. It is left with no means untried to block them.
    Over the last five years a dark cloud of nuclear war has been constantly hanging over the Korean peninsula due to the U.S. imperialist moves. And more than once multifaceted dialogues between the north and the south have been suspended and cooperation and exchange between them undergone difficulties.
    The U.S. would be well advised to clearly understand that no matter how viciously the outside forces may pose a war threat, the Korean nation will successfully hold the grand festival for reunification and continue to dynamically advance the movement for independent reunification under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
