Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 3407. He climbed a forward command post and feasted his eyes on vast defence theatres.
He acquainted himself with the terrain conditions and the deployment of forces before receiving report on the situation from the commander of the unit. Commanding a bird's-eye-view of the city and villages, the fertile land and the beautiful sea humming with creation and changes, which remind one of the high spirit of Songun Korea, he said the country's prosperity and development and people's happiness are firmly guaranteed as the servicepersons of the KPA are standing firm guard over the beloved socialist country which can not be bartered for anything.
He set forth tasks to be fulfilled to increase the unit's combat capability and consolidate the defence theatre as firm as an iron wall, satisfied to learn that the servicepersons of the unit are closely following the U.S. imperialists' moves for aggression and performing their guard duties in a responsible manner with a high degree of vigilance.
He dropped in at the command of the unit and learned about how political work is conducted among the unit's servicepersons, going round servicepersons' hall, a library and other facilities for the ideological education and entertainment.
He underscored the need to pay primary attention to the ideological education in order to firmly prepare all the servicepersons as ideologically strong fighters, praising the unit for having built a modern servicepersons' hall and a library and operated them on a regular basis to be of great help to the education of them.
He inspected a tactical lecture for commanding officers and a technical lecture for soldiers at military lecture rooms.
He called for steadily intensifying the training, noting with high appreciation that the unit has conducted drills aimed at improving the operational command and increasing the combat capability in a militant manner under the simulated conditions of an actual battle and thus trained all the commanding officers and men into stalwart fighters capable of undertaking any difficult combat duties, successfully organizing and commanding any operations.
He learned in detail about soldiers' service and living, looking round an educational room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen, a wash-cum-bath house, a non-stable food store, an outdoor resting place, a barn and other places.
He gave the unit meticulous instructions, looking after every aspect of soldiers' living ranging from their use of publications, watch of TV sets to the architectural structure and heating of their bedrooms, quantity of water supplied to their wash-cum-bath house and their use of saunas.
Noting that all the units of the People's Army he has visited are assiduously and methodically managing their economic life as one because they always breathe the same breath with the party by fully embodying the idea, spirit and view on life taught by it, he emphasized that this is a brilliant tradition and proud traits consistently maintained by the army.
He had a photo session with servicepersons of the unit, expressing great expectation and conviction that they would achieve signal success in the honorable service for defending the country.
