KPA, Champion of Peace

Pyongyang April 22 (KCNA) -- The Korean People's Army is celebrating its 73rd birthday on April 25.
The entire people of the county take this opportunity to look back on the proud history of the heroic army, which has won two wars against the Japanese and U.S. imperialists and has defended peace, frustrating all the moves of the enemies to start another war.
Far from drawing a serious lesson from their defeat in the war of aggression against the DPRK in the 1950s, the US imperialists have incessantly perpetrated provocations on the ground and the sea and in the air, looking for a chance to invade the north.
Their provocations, however, have been smashed by the KPA with an invincible might.
Typical of them are the Pueblo incident (1968), EC-121 incident (1969) and Panmunjom incident (1976).
Over the last decade, the KPA has shattered thousands of their grave military provocations to safeguard the security and peace of the country with credit.
It was in Juche 83 (1994) that an ordinary soldier brought down at a single shot a U.S. high-performance helicopter when it intruded into the territorial air of the DPRK for a spy mission.
The KPA has defended the sovereignty of the country and socialism, answering the imperialists' tough stance with tougher measures, undaunted by their continued moves of aggression and war.
Under the Songun politics, it is equipped with a powerful war deterrent capable of destroying any new-type weapons and means of operation of the enemies and repulsing their surprise invasion.
The KPA, under the command of Kim Jong Il, is fully displaying its might as an army strong in ideology and faith and as a matchless army equipped with both modern offensive and defense means.
