Pyongyang in Festive Attire

Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang is being decorated in a festive attire with the Day of the Sun (April 15), the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, drawing near.
This year in which the 60th anniversaries of the liberation of the country and the Workers' Party of Korea fall, the citizens are commemorating the Day of the Sun with more ardent yearning for the President than ever before.
Streets, residential quarters and working places are festooned with posters, streamers and colorful decorations.
A stream of servicepersons, working people from all walks of life, youth and students visit the Kumsusan Memorial Palace where the President lies in state, Mangyongdae, his native place, and other revolutionary sites associated with his immortal exploits.
Colorful functions including retrospective meetings, symposiums, lectures and art performances have taken place in different places of the city in praise of his greatness and noble virtue.
The 23rd April Spring Friendship Art Festival, which raised the curtain on the tenth, is stirring up the festive atmosphere.
The preparation for the 7th Kimilsungia Festival is progressing apace at the final stage.
This year's festival to commemorate the President's birth anniversary and the 40th year of Kimilsungia breeding will draw 20 more units and more foreign delegations and several thousand more Kimilsungia pots than the last one.
The national art exhibition has opened at the People's Palace of Culture.
With the Mangyongdae Cup sports contest going on, the 18th International Marathon Race for Mangyongdae Cup was held on April 10 amid great public interest.
