    Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- A meeting of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea was held at the plaza of the Monument to Party Founding on Wednesday to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the election of leader Kim Jong Il as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission (NDC). A report by Ryom Sun Gil, chairman of the GFTUK Central Committee, was followed by speeches at the meeting.
    The reporter and speakers noted that the election of Kim Jong Il to the top post of the NDC provided a sure guarantee for successfully accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche through generations and enabled the homeland of Juche to more strikingly demonstrate its dignity and might.
    The immortal exploits Kim Jong Il has performed in carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche by wisely steering the party, the army and the people with his distinguished political caliber will always shine in the history of the country along with the era of Songun, they said.
    They stressed the need for the workers and unionists to contribute to increasing the national defence capability and bring about a new revolutionary surge on major fronts for economic construction while channeling all efforts into agriculture, the main front of the socialist economic construction this year.
    A congratulatory poem "He Is Our Chairman of NDC" was read out at the meeting.
    Present at the meeting were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and others.
