General Onward March Suitable for Songun Era

    Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are all out to effect a new great upsurge in all sectors of socialist construction and thus to celebrate the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the country's liberation as grand festivals of victors. This upsurge is a new mode of general onward march suitable for the Songun era, which reflects the revolutionary soldier spirit and the demand for the development of economic science and technology in the 21st century.
    In the postwar days the Korean people made a leaping development in the revolution and construction by effecting a great upsurge in the Chollima spirit.
    It was the spirit of trusting in and following the WPK and the leader and carrying the intention of the Party and leader into practice unconditionally in any adversity; the spirit of self-reliance and hard working with which they bravely went through any difficulties and trials with their own efforts, and the patriotic spirit for building a rich and strong socialist country by making continued innovation and uninterrupted advance in the speed of Chollima.
    Just with this spirit, the Korean people could effect the great Chollima upsurge in the postwar years, through which they had defended the Party and the leader at the risk of their lives and built a powerful socialist nation, independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in national defence, on this war-torn land.
    As the Chollima spirit was the ideological and spiritual foundation of the great upsurge in the 1950s, the revolutionary soldier spirit constitutes the ideological and spiritual source for vigorously effecting a great upsurge in the Songun era at present. The Korean people, with the revolutionary soldier spirit, have created the Kanggye spirit, lit the Ranam torch and made innovations in the overall socialist construction. Science and technology are the main key to the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and a motive power for a great upsurge.
    In recent years the Korean people, under the great banner of Songun, have achieved a rapid development in the fields of science and technology including IT, constructed many modern factories, large-size hydro-power stations and carried out land rezoning and waterway projects which would take scores of years. This strikingly proves the economic potential and developed science and technology of the country.
