Pyongyangites Vow to Effect Great Surge in Songun Revolution

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- A mammoth rally was held at Kim Il Sung Square with at least 100,000 Pyongyangites attending Thursday at a time when the whole country is out to implement the tasks put forward in the joint New Year editorial of the newspapers of the Party, army and the youth league.
They vowed to bring about a great surge in the Songun revolution in order to effect a signal turn in building a great prosperous powerful nation in this significant year.
The editorial called on the whole Party and army and all the people to turn out as one and bring about a fresh revolutionary surge with the might of Songun so as to glorify the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country as the greatest festivals of victors in the history of the Party and the country. This was set forth as the general task of struggle this year in the editorial.
Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, made a report at the rally in which he called on all the citizens to dynamically accelerate the general onward march of the Songun revolution holding high the slogan "Let the Whole Party and Army and All the People Unite as One in Mind and More Strikingly Demonstrate the Might of Songun!"
He underscored the need for the citizens to unite closer around leader Kim Jong Il under the banner of the single-minded unity, thoroughly establish a revolutionary discipline and order whereby the people move as one under the WPK's leadership and protect the unity and cohesion based on the Songun idea as their own eyeballs.
He called upon them to supply everything necessary for the defence industry on a priority basis, attach importance to military affairs and sincerely assist the People's Army while making earnest efforts to learn from its fighting spirit, work style and traits.
The reporter underlined the need for the working people in the capital to bring about a radical turn in the agricultural production, increase the production of electricity and coal and produce more varieties of consumer goods including primary consumer goods while channeling great efforts into the construction of major objects to complete them in the best quality.
Then the floor was taken by representatives of people of various strata including Ko In Ho, chairman of the Pyongyang City Rural Economy Committee.
They resolved to reap a rich harvest this year and create a new building speed in the construction of the capital.
Among those present at the rally were Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Thae Bok, Jong Ha Chol and Kim Jung Rin, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, members of the Cabinet.
