Solar-Heat Greenhouses Built
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK
Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- Several thousand solar-heat greenhouses of different sizes and shapes have been constructed at industrial establishments and rural communities across the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in recent years.
They, covering hundreds of hectares, are turning out various kinds of vegetables including lettuce, crown daisy and cucumber even in winter.
The Turusom Cooperative Farm in Rakrang District is taking the lead in greenhouse farming in Pyongyang.
The farm has built nearly 100 greenhouses with an acreage of six hectares in total.
The walls of the greenhouses were built with slug adobe to keep warmth inside.
Hundreds of standardized greenhouses have been built in sunny places in South Hwanghae Province.
Those built in towns and counties of North Phyongan Province, Kanggye City of Jagang Province, Wonsan City of Kangwon Province, Tokchon City of South Phyongan Province and Hwangju County of North Hwanghae Province are paying off.
