Pothonggang Recreation Ground Spruced Up

    Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- The recreation ground along the River Pothong flowing through Pyongyang has been facelifted in the months of general mobilization for autumn land management. Repair projects were carried out and a large number of trees of good species planted in the ground to add beauty to the river. More than 4,000 fast-growing poplar trees of a new species were planted there.
    Ryang Chol Ho, chief engineer of the Forestation Management Department under the Pyongyang City People's Committee, told KCNA that the poplar trees grow one meter and more a year.
    The promenades along the river have been repaved with blocks and stonewalls, curbstones, staircases, etc. well readjusted.
    Hundreds of thousands of square meters of green belts have been clad with turf which keeps its green color even in winter.
    The recreation ground was built in the main in the period from the summer of Juche 47 (1958) to 196
