Reception on Anniversary of DPRK-China Diplomatic Tie

    Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the Korea-China Friendship Association gave a reception at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel Tuesday on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the opening of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the People's Republic of China. Minister of Public Health Kim Su Hak who is chairman of the C.C., the Korea-China Friendship Association, addressing the reception, said the two peoples have steadily strengthened and developed friendly and cooperative relations in the political, economic, cultural and other fields over the last 55 years.
    Today, he further said, the Chinese people have set themselves the goal of a higher stage to build a socialist power with Chinese characteristics and are making significant achievements in the work to build a comprehensively well-off society by 2020 and the international position of China is rising day by day. The Korean people are rejoiced over this and sincerely wish the Chinese people greater success in their efforts to achieve the prosperity of the Chinese nation in the future.
    The DPRK-China friendship provided by President Kim Il Sung together with the leaders of the elder generation of China is developing in depth in the new century under the deep concern of leader Kim Jong Il and the new collective leadership of China headed by Hu Jintao.
    It is the unshakable stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government to value the DPRK-China friendly relations and consolidate and develop them. We believe that the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation will develop with added vigor in the future in the spirit of the agreement reached between the top leaders of the two countries. The minister wished the Chinese people bigger advance in accomplishing the cause of socialist modernization and reunification of the whole country under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
    Speaking next, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe said the two countries, amid the concern of their top leaders over the last 55 years since the opening of diplomatic ties between them, have supported each other in the political sphere, filled each other's needs in the economic area, cooperated with each other in the international arena, carried on beneficial exchange and cooperation in various sectors and thus made major contributions to the promotion of socialist construction in the two countries, defense of the sovereignty and security of the countries and preservation of regional peace and stability.
    The ambassador went on:
    The continued consolidation and development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries not only confirms with the basic interests of the two peoples but are helpful to the regional peace and development.
    Over the last half a century or more the Korean people have won incessant victories in the socialist revolution and construction in the spirit of self-reliance, hard struggle and revolutionary optimism under the leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
    This year the Korean people have recorded phenomenal achievements through their courageous efforts on the three fronts of politics and ideology, anti-imperialism and military affairs and economy and science and thus opened a new phase in building a great prosperous powerful nation.
    We are sincerely rejoiced over the achievements made by the Korean comrades and wholeheartedly hope that the fraternal Korean people will continue to win new victories on the bright road indicated by Kim Jong Il.
    Steadfast is the policy of the Chinese party and government to consolidate and develop the Sino-Korean friendly and cooperative relations.
    The Sino-Korean friendship with a long history will grow in strength and develop generation after generation under the deep concern of the leaders of the two countries, concluded the ambassador.
