S. Korea's Much Fuss about DPRK's Import of Sodium Cyanide under Fire

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK

Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities are kicking up much fuss, asserting that the north illegally imported sodium cyanide which their enterprises had produced and exported to several countries in Asia. This can not but be an anti-national act shocking and infuriating the north, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary.
Deals in sodium cyanide are being done among countries on the principle of meeting each other's needs for their economic performance and progress and, therefore, it would pose no problem in trade, the commentary says, and goes on:
The nation lives in the era of reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification of the country.
The direct economic deal between the north and the south, not through a third country, is in line with the trend of the times and in the interests of the nation. It goes without saying that it would have been better if direct import and export of the substance had been made between the north and the south.
It is deplorable that the south Korean authorities raised a hue and cry over the issue, far from regretting the failure to do so.
It is intolerable that they are taking legal actions against those enterprises that had produced and exported the substance.
It is quite natural to handle the issue of the north's import of the substance produced in the south in the interests of the whole nation. The attitude taken by the south Korean authorities towards the export of sodium cyanide is related to a fundamental issue showing whether they stand for national cooperation or cooperation with the outside forces.
The recent misbehavior of the south Korean authorities clearly proved that their action does not match their words as they talked about "cooperation" and "exchange" with the north whenever an opportunity presented itself.
The authorities should drop their antipathy towards the north at an early date and swim with the trend of the times for reunification after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration which calls on all Koreans to get reconciled and cooperate with each other in the efforts to achieve independent progress.
