Inside North Korea

The Central Broadcasting Station propagandized on Sept. 21, "On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the death of Kim Jong Suk, the Women’s Federation held a memorial rally at the Youth Center on Sept. 20, with the theme of ‘Let us Strive to Emulate Kim Jong Suk, Our Mother.’ At the rally, members of the Women’s Federation paid tribute to her, saying “it is one of the greatest achievements of Kim Jong Suk that she gave birth to our Dear Leader, which is a blessing for all the Korean people, generation after generation.”

The Central Broadcasting Station insisted on Sept. 23 that "the spirit of defending our Dear Leader at the cost of one’s life remains steadfast - yesterday, today and tomorrow. Therefore, the military and people of the DPRK will cherish this tradition forever.”

International Issues

Pyongyang Broadcasting Service asserted in its Sept. 23 editorial titled “the U.S.’ strategic hub in its military stance on the DPRK and Asia,” that “should Washington wage a nuclear war, Tokyo will unavoidably find itself engulfed by enormous firestorms, as the U.S. military base in Japan will ignite a nuclear war, threatening the lives of the Japanese people.”

Pyongyang Broadcasting Service condemned Washington on Sept. 26 for the U.S.’ move to impose restrictions with regards to construction of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex, saying “the U.S.’ outrageous move is tantamount to intervening in the internal affairs of the Korean people, and is designed to deliberately stand in the way of reconciliation and reunification of the Korean peninsula.”

Inter-Korean Issues

The Central Broadcasting Station denounced Seoul on Sept. 24, saying, "the South Korean military authorities are again planning to send an Air Force contingent to Iraq, as a follow-up to its additional 900-member troop dispatch to Iraq in Aug. This is definitely an unpardonable act in betrayal of our nation.”

The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland voiced criticism of Seoul, saying, "recently, the South Korean authorities have been taking a submissive position in relation to Washington by succumbing to the U.S.’ pressure on Seoul to cover the cost of eliminating the oil pipelines of the U.S. troops.” (Sept. 25, Central Broadcasting Station)
