Physical Strength Check-up in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The physical strength check-up is now in swing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
It has been conducted as an annual event in the country since Juche 37 (1948).
The government has set August and September as physical strength examination months. The nationwide campaign is aimed to make the whole society replete with an atmosphere of making physical culture and sports mass-based and encourage the people to improve their physical fitness and prepare themselves well for labour and national defence.
A mutual examination method has been introduced this year to boost the enthusiasm of the people.
Kim Il Sung University, the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, institutions, industrial establishments and schools in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, have carried on practice of all events in a planned way so that most of their members have passed the eleven-event check-up according to ages and sexes.
The physical strength examination has been dynamically conducted in all provinces, cities and counties.
The examination reflects the Korean people's optimistic spirit of making their life more beautiful with strong physical strength.
