A senior North Korean official is dismissing claims that Pyongyang is preparing for a missile test.
North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Choe Su Hon told reporters at the United Nations that reports that North Korea is getting ready to launch a ballistic missile is "only rumor and guess."
South Korea and Japan have said recent activity at a suspected launch site for North Korean missiles may be connected to routine military drills.
North Korea launched a long-range missile over Japan's main island in 1998, and test-fired several short-range, anti-ship missiles into the ocean last year.
