Kim Jong Il Receives Chinese Delegation

    Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Sunday met the Chinese party and government delegation led by Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on an official goodwill visit to the DPRK. Present were Li Changchun, Wang Jiarui, head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ji Bingxuan, permanent vice-director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Sun Jiazheng, minister of Culture, Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador e.p. to the DPRK, Liu Hongcai, deputy head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wu Dawei, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Gao Hucheng, vice-minister of Commerce, and other members of the delegation.
    On hand was Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK.
    At the meeting Li Changchun handed over a personal letter from Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and president of China, to Kim Jong Il.
    He also conveyed to him warm greetings of Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission of China.
    Li presented a gift to Kim Jong Il.
    Kim Jong Il expressed thanks for this and asked him to send his greetings to Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin before conversing with him in an amicable atmosphere.
    He had a luncheon with the guests on the same day.
