Korean Central News Agency of DPRK
Pyongyang, August 13 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected logistic bases of KPA Unit 639.
He first dropped in at a new power station built by the unit.
Going round the inside and outside of the station, he learned about its construction and the generation of electricity. He was greatly satisfied to learn that servicepersons of the unit have built the station with a big generating capacity on their own efforts with a patriotic desire to help the country even a bit.
The next leg of his inspection was a newly built modern catfish farm.
Looking round the spick and span inside and outside of the farm, he got familiar with its construction and the fish breeding. He said that the farm is a product of the noble spiritual world displayed by servicepersons of the KPA who live not for today but for tomorrow with ardent love for the motherland.
He underscored the need to carry out to the letter the policy to bring about a radical boost in cultivating good breeds and put fish breeding on a scientific and intensive basis so as to supply soldiers with various freshwater fishes including catfish in abundance.
Then he moved on to a new soldiers' rest home built by the unit. He acquainted himself in detail with its construction, management and operation while going round a bedroom, bathroom, mess hall and other places.
He highly praised the successes made by the servicepersons of the unit, saying that they have done a lot of work in recent years including its successful work to increase the combat capability and the construction of its logistic bases. He sent warm appreciation to all the servicepersons of the unit.
He was accompanied by KPA Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC of the DPRK and chief of the KPA general staff, and KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.
