Grand Monuments to National Liberation in DPRK

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK

Pyongyang, August 13 (KCNA) -- The Arch of Triumph at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang has been visited by many people with the approach of the 59th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. The arch was erected to convey to posterity the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung, who returned to Pyongyang in triumph after leading the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory and achieving national liberation.
Many monuments have been built in different parts of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to convey his feats to the generations to come.
The Grand Monument on Mansu Hill was erected on the occasion of his 60th birth anniversary. It shows the whole course of the Korean revolution led by him and the undying feats performed by him in this course.
A grand monument is standing on Mt. Wangjae in Onsong, too. It tells that the President showed up in the Onsong area, put forward a strategic policy of expanding the anti-Japanese armed struggle to the homeland and aroused all the people of the country for its victory.
The Monument to the Victorious Pochonbo Battle was erected in praise of the great victory won by the President in Pochonbo. He advanced into Pochonbo in June Juche 26 (1937) with the main unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and dealt a heavy blow at the Japanese imperialists, demonstrating to the whole world that Korea was alive, not dead.
There are the Grand Monument on Lake Samji and the Monument to the Victorious Battle in Musan Area. They represent the historical fact that in May 1939, he advanced into the homeland again and waged a victorious battle to instill the faith in national liberation in the hearts of the people.
They also show that only the armed struggle was the way out for the Korean people and only arms guarantee the victory of the Korean revolution.
