Rodong Sinmun on DPRK-Russia Friendship

Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the DPRK-Russia Moscow Declaration which was published while leader Kim Jong Il was paying a historical visit to Russia.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun today says Kim Jong Il's visit to Russia and the birth of the declaration were a dramatic event of distinguished significance in the history of DPRK-Russia friendship in the new century, which has made a sizable contribution to guaranteeing peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.
The author of the article further says:
The last three years following the publication of the declaration have been days in which the DPRK-Russia friendly relations have made a steady development on a new stage.
The Russian people are now making strenuous efforts to achieve social stability and national unity and defend the security and interests of the country under the leadership of President V.V. Putin. Affirmative changes are taking place in different fields of social life and economic and defense potentials are growing thanks to measures of the Russian government and the labor of the Russian people. Russia opposes all manner of terrorism and war and it is striving for the guarantee of world peace and security and for a fair and peaceful solution to international issues while seeking the multipolarization of the world. The voice and dignity of Russia are being boosted in the international arena.
The Korean people appreciate the efforts of the Russian government and people for social development and defense of the security and interests of the country, sincerely hoping that everything will go favorably in Russia.
It is the invariable will and stand of the Korean people to consistently strengthen and develop DPRK-Russia friendship in response to the requirements of the new century, concludes the article.
