- AUSTRALIA/NOKOR VOA 18 Aug 2004 -- Diplomatic efforts are underway to persuade North Korea to continue participating in the dialogue on its nuclear-weapons programs, after Pyongyang indicated its reluctance to attend further negotiations. Both China and Australia's foreign minister are trying to convince Pyongyang to be more accommodating.
- Ulji Focus Lens-04 Flailed KCNA 18 Aug 2004 -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland Monday issued information bulletin No. 881 as regards the Ulji Focus Lens-04 joint military exercise to be staged by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean war hawks.

- Talk about "Principal Enemy" Blasted KCNA 18 Aug 2004 -- An oft-repeated talk about the anachronistic "conception of the principal enemy" is nothing but an act against the nation and reunification which can be committed only by the anti-reunification conservative elements, who do not want the reconciliation and cooperation among the Koreans and are utterly indifferent to the reunification of the country. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article.
- KCNA Refutes Report on Drug Smuggling KCNA 18 Aug 2004 -- The U.S. Congressional Research Service recently released a report what it called "Drug smuggling and north Korea".
- Australian Foreign Minister Arrives KCNA 18 Aug 2004 -- Alexander Downer, foreign minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, arrived here on August 17.
