Geumgang Tourism Zone on May 6, Juche 93 (2004) including Regulations on Foreign Currency Management in the Mt. Geumgang Tourism Zone, Regulations on Advertising in the Mt. The Central Broadcasting Station propagandized on June 6, "On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Korean Children's Union, the people of the DPRK send their heartfelt congratulations to all members of the Korean Children's Union, who are growing up pledging infinite loyalty and allegiance to the Party, the Dear Leader, our nation and our people." |
International Issues
A spokesperson for the DPRK foreign ministry unilaterally claimed that "the KEDO Executive Committee announced that regarding whether to resume light-water reactors construction after Dec. 1, 2004 when the set period for temporarily suspension of the LWR construction will end, executive member countries failed to reach a consensus, which is tantamount to complete and unilateral abrogation of the US-DPRK Framework Agreement adopted in Oct. 1994." The Central Broadcasting Station denounced Tokyo on June 5, reporting that "Japan's House of Representatives officially passed a bill banning the entry of specified foreign ships on June 3, which speaks volume about how Japanese right-wing conservatives are fanatically seeking senseless hostile policy against the DPRK." |
Inter-Korean Issues
Pyongyang Broadcasting Station propagandized on May 31, "Today, whether one calls for the abolition of the National Security Law or not is a touchstone demonstrating whether one is for or against self-reliant reunification. Therefore, people in all walks of life in the South should be more actively engaged in their struggle to put an end to the National Security Law and pave the way for self-reliant reunification." |

The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland criticized Seoul, saying "The Korea Institute of Defense Analysis in the South issued the 'Report on Military Forces in Northeast Asia 2003-2004' and publicly called for the strengthening of the South's combat capability against the North. This is a grave challenge to all Korean people's hopes for national reconciliation and union." (June 4, Central Broadcasting Station) |

The Central Broadcasting Station made the unreasonable claim on June 4 th at "according to well-informed military sources, South Korean forces attempted a military provocation on June 4 at 08:50 by trespassing in our territory with three battleships and fighter planes, which is clearly a case of the South Korean military authorities' foolish attempt to exercise jurisdiction in the waters of the NNL." |
