Inside North Korea

The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly decided to adopt regulations related to the operation of the Mt. Geumgangsan Tourism Zone on April 29, and introduced the Regulations on the Operation of the Mt. Geumgangsan Tourism Zone, including the Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of the Mt. Geumgangsan Management Institution, the Pyongyang Broadcasting Service reported on May 27.

The Central Broadcasting Station propagandized on May 27, quoting a Rodong Sinmun editorial, "All workers and members of the WPK must wage an all-out campaign to understand and internalize the party policies so that they can practice the spirit of defending the Leader at the risk of one's life and the spirit of heroic sacrifice in their daily lives."

A meeting on foreign trade was held at the People's Palace of Culture on May 28, attended by Jong Ha Chol of the WPK Central Committee and other related officials, the Central Broadcasting Station reported on May 29.

International Issues

The Central Broadcasting Station denounced Japan on May 27, reporting that "Japan's House of Representatives passed a set of seven bills to supplement Japan's first war contingency legislation on May 20, aimed at enabling the Japanese government to fully mobilize its people and local governing bodies for war and carry out military intervention against foreign ships at sea."

The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service insisted on May 28 that "The U.S.' pressure and blackmail against the DPRK will only end up escalating the DPRK people's hatred and hostility toward the U.S. Therefore, Washington must abandon its foolish attempt to accomplish its sinister goals through pressure against and military blackmail of the DPRK."

Inter-Korean Issues

A spokesperson for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement saying, "As long as the U.S. aggression force stays in South Korea, there is bound to be a nuclear disaster driven by the U.S. Therefore, the people of the South must engage in a more active and intensive struggle to have the U.S. aggression force completely withdrawn from the Korean peninsula." (Pyongyang Broadcasting Service, May 26)

The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service insisted on May 30 that "Right-wing extremists in the South who are subservient flunkies to the U.S. persistently stand in the way of inter-Korean cooperation initiatives. However, any such wicked attempt can neither stop advancements towards the unification of the nation nor reverse progress in national history."
