Paekma-Cholsan Waterway Project Progresses Apace

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- A rapid progress has been made in the Paekma-Cholsan waterway project.
As of the end of May, the tunnels have been excavated in the main along the waterway extending hundreds of kilometers.
The tunnel expansion project, concrete tamping and the building of structures are progressing at the final stage.
The Paekma Reservoir dam construction, which is the most important in the waterway project, has also been stepped up on a full scale.
The builders erected the dam five meters higher in the past one month with 10,000 cubic meters of mortar on a daily average. They, with a goal of finishing the dam construction this year, have overfulliled their daily assignments by twenty percent.
The builders of an intake tower have carried on the project far ahead of schedule, while ensuring the quality of the construction on a high level by introducing a new construction method.
Recently, leader Kim Jong Il extended thanks to those who distinguished themselves in the waterway project.
