Samsu May 7 (KCNA) --A ground-breaking ceremony of the Samsu Power Station in Ryanggang Province, the northern part of the DPRK, was held on the spot Friday.
Pak Pong Ju, premier of the Cabinet, in a report at the ceremony called on all the members of the volunteers teams and builders to display intense loyalty and devotion in their work so as to complete the construction in a short span of time and thus make positive contributions to the cause of building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
The ceremony was followed by a blasting to start the construction. Leader Kim Jong Il, with a deep insight into the importance of electricity production, brought a plan for electrification into maturity. He initiated the construction of the Samsu Power Station and acquainted himself with details of the project ranging from its scale and preparations to manpower for the construction. He clearly indicated the orientation and ways to dynamically push ahead with the construction.
The power station, which will have a huge generating capacity by use of water from the Rivers Hochon and Unchong, will be greatly helpful to solving the problem of electricity in Ryanggang Province and developing the national economy and improving the standard of the people's living in the province.
The completion of the station would help more satisfactorily settle the problem of electricity in the area of Mt. Paektu. Then the revolutionary battle sites and historic sites, the treasures of eternal value for the Korean revolution, will be spruced up as a holy place of the sun of the 21st century and there will appear a large man-made lake after the rise of the dam of the power station to add beauty to the landscape of Hyesan and Samsu areas.
