  • Patients Airlifted from Ryongchon KCNA 14 May 2004 -- A helicopter flew for patients of the damaged area in Ryongchon County. A lot of patients wounded in an unexpected accident at Ryongchon Railway Station have been carried to the North Phyongan Provincial People's Hospital, Sinuiju City People's Hospital No.1 and other medical institutions in the province.
  • Sinister Aim of U.S. Deceptive "Reduction" of Armed Forces Disclosed KCNA 14 May 2004 -- The U.S. imperialists' plan for the reduction of their armed forces means a plan to reorganize and beef up their armed forces as it is aimed to maintain and strengthen their military position in the Asia-Pacific region and to more effectively enforce their policy of strength, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article carried in connection with the U.S. announcement that it would cut down some of its forces in the region in a few years to come.

This is just one of the serious differences persisting in six-nation talks on dismantling North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
  • JAPAN NOKOR VOA 14 May 2004 -- Japan's prime minister is making a second trip to North Korea for talks with that country's leader. Japan and North Korea have no diplomatic ties. The impending visit is raising expectations of a breakthrough on such thorny bilateral issues as North Korea's abduction of Japanese nationals.
