International Issues
Pyongyang Broadcasting Station (April14) claimed "On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of proposing Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) aimed at isolating and stifling the DPRK, the US is once again preparing a joint military exercise. However, that will only bring more hard-line policy against the US on our part. " |

A foreign ministry spokesperson said on April 18, "the US Vice President said recently if the DPRK continues to pursue its nuclear program, the U.S. will consider economic sanctions as an effective alternative. The U.S should keep in mind that we(the DPRK) have already made it very clear that we will consider any economic sanction by the U.S as a declaration of war. We are also seriously seeking ways to cope with the U.S' obsolete insistence that the DPRK first drop the nuclear program." |

The Central Broadcasting Station criticized Japan on April 17, "With regards to the recent ruling by the Fukuoka District Court of Japan that the Prime Minister's visits to the Yasukuni Shrine are unconstitutional, the secretary-general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and deputy cabinet secretary and other senior officials of the LDP and government express regrets over the ruling insisting that the Prime Minister's visit to the shrine does not violate the Constitution." |
Inter-Korean Issues
Pyongyang Broadcasting Station propagandized on April 14 "the South's General Election scheduled for April 15 is an occasion for the truth and justice to judge injustice and unrighteousness. As such, South Korean people in all walks of life should be actively engaged in the election struggle to pass a stern judgment on the pro-U.S conservatists." |
