The Central Broadcasting Station reported on April 9, "A national meeting was held at the April 25 House of Culture on April 8 to celebrate the 11th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Party, the state and the army, members of the academic, educational, medical, cultural, art and press communities as well as various visitors and workers." |

The Central Broadcasting Station propagandized on April 10, "As people of the DPRK as well as progressive people across the globe held various events of celebration on the occasion of the Day of the Sun, the 22nd April Spring Friendship Art Festival was opened on April 10 in Pyongyang. The festival was attended by Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong Ho, chairman of the organizing committee of the festival, Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, and other officials concerned, working people and artists. |
International Issues
Pyongyang Broadcasting Station stated on April 11, "the U.S. carries out some 100 rounds of military exercises jointly with Japan and South Korea every year. The series of frantic war exercises are aimed at preparing for the aggression war against the DPRK to launch massive strike to destroy our military capability in the shortest possible days. In other words, it is to replay its war strategy employed in the war on Iraq again in the DPRK." |

Pyongyang Broadcasting Station criticized Tokyo on April 10 "while the Japanese reactionaries are aggravating the already worsened relations between the DPRK and Japan, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party has recently endorsed and proposed "the bill banning the entry of specified foreign ships into Japan" to the Diet jointly with the Komeito Party. Such explicit moves to pose economic sanctions against the DPRK are meticulously planned by the Japanese reactionaries to deteriorate the standoff between Pyongyang and Tokyo so as to provoke a new war on the Korean peninsula." |
Inter-Korean Issues
Pyongyang Broadcasting Station stated on April 9, "Among wide array of political events and happenings that have occurred in South Korea to date, the election campaigns for the 17th National Assembly has by far the most highlighted the standoff between patriotic democratic groups vs. dictatorial and anti-unification groups. In particular, the pro-U.S. conservative extremists' maneuvers have reached to the extreme degrees." |

The Central Broadcasting Station reported on April 10, "the 4th inter-Korean meeting for reconnecting railroads and highways and the 3rd meeting for inter-Korean flood control in the Yimjin River were held in Gaeseong from April 8 to 10. At the meeting, both sides adopted an agreement after discussing the issue of establishing temporary office for automobiles, among others." |
