DPRK on Day of Sun

Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is in a festive atmosphere commemorating the Day of the Sun, the most auspicious holiday of the nation.
Seen in the streets of Pyongyang are boards carrying such words as "Day of the Sun", "Eternal Life", "Commemoration" and "April 15", picture boards, large visual aids and other kinds of decorations.
Fluttering on flag poles in streets are red banners, flags of the DPRK, flags of the April Spring Friendship Art Festival and pasted on walls of buildings are posters of the Sixth Kimilsungia Festival and art festival. Trees along streets are ornamented with neon signs and small electric bulbs.
Various kinds of flowers including apricot tree flowers delight people enjoying the holiday.
A large number of people are visiting the Kumsusan Memorial Palace and statues of President Kim Il Sung throughout the country to pay deep homage to him. His old home in Mangyongdae is also being visited by many people.
The 17th International Marathon Race for "Mangyongdae Cup" and meetings of workers and trade union members and youth were held in Pyongyang to vow loyalty to Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il. And the 22nd April Spring Friendship Art Festival, the 6th Kimilsungia Festival, art show of the Songhwa Art Studio and other functions are going on before full houses to commemorate the Day of the Sun.
Art performances are given at theatres and newly released films screened at cinema houses. Sports games and amusements are being held in all parts of the country.
The Okryu, Chongryu and Sinhung restaurants and other public catering establishments in the capital and local areas are serving traditional spring foods and special dishes to people. Make-shift stands are also crowded with people.
