Inside North Korea

Kim Jong Il paid inspection visits to duck and fish farms of KPA unit No. 233 , followed by a land development project site in South Phyongan Province (date unreported). He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong. (Mar.16,17, Central Broadcasting Station).

The National Agricultural Workers Federation rally was held at the Central Workers' Center on Mar. 17. The rally was attended by Kim Jung Rin, a member of the Central Committee of Korea Workers' Party and related personnel, members of the central and local agricultural workers' federation, among others (Mar. 18, Central Broadcasting Station).

International Issues

Pyongyang Broadcasting Station vehemently criticized Tokyo on Mar. 16 in an editorial titled "Japan's Self-destructive Maneuver to Reinvade the DPRK," saying "Japan has not given up its anachronistic military ambition and prepare itself to become a military power in Asia by establishing the Emergency Laws, dispatching its Self Defense Force to Iraq, and beefing up the armed forces.

A spokesman for the Panmunjom Mission of the Korean People's Army said in a press conference, "the U.S. has sent a telephone message to our side that it would stage the large-scale Foal Eagle exercise and joint military exercises for combat readiness. However, our Panmunjom Mission has strongly demanded that the U.S. immediately withdraw the plan."

Inter-Korean Issues

The Central Broadcasting Station reported on Mar. 17, "Massive campaigns have been staged in all parts of South Korea to denounce the South Korean National Assembly's decision to impeach the President. A large-scale candle-lit rally took place in  the Gwanghwamun, the downtown of Seoul on Mar. 13 with over 70,000 members of various organizations and citizens attending under the sponsorship of the "All-People's Action for Nullification of the Impeachment and End of Corrupt Politics".

The Democratic National United Front Broadcasting, a malicious anti-South propaganda media outlet claimed that it has published a White Paper on South Korea's additional troop dispatch, in a bid to let all people of the world know the sinister and criminal dealings behind Seoul's troop dispatch to Iraq. It also added that it is the U.S. that has been meticulously planning and implementing Seoul's additional dispatch of troops to Iraq, with an intention to address its national interests at the cost of South Korea.
